What a session is, and how to get into one
An event on Choyens is one night of play: a date, a place, a going list, and a queue that draws the games once everyone arrives. Most are weekly club nights — the same hall, the same time, largely the same faces — rather than one-off fixtures.
Anything listed below is public, which means the organiser is happy for new players to turn up. That is the useful thing about a public list: you are not gate-crashing someone’s private booking, you are answering an open invitation.

A session already in play. The page shows live scores and who is on court, so you can see the standard of play before you decide to go.
Upcoming
Sessions with a date ahead. The going list tells you how full it is — a night with four people needs you more than one with thirty.
Past
Finished sessions keep their results. Worth a look before your first visit: it shows how regularly a group actually plays.
You can join without the app. Open a public event and you can add yourself as a guest with just a name. You will be in the going list and in the draw on the night. The app is what keeps a record between sessions — it is not what gets you on court.
Before you go
Turning up to a session you found here
Check the time and the place, then say you are coming. Organisers book courts against the going list. Marking yourself before the night is the difference between a booked court and a night nobody could plan.
Bring the fee in cash. Nearly every club splits the court cost per head at the door. Expect to pay as you arrive, not after you play.
Bring indoor, non-marking shoes. Most halls will turn away street soles, and it is the single most common reason a first-timer does not get to play.
Expect to be drawn, not to book a court. Club nights rotate: you are put into games as courts free up, with whoever you are drawn alongside. If you have only played with friends on a booked court, read what actually happens at a club night first.
